John T. Tong, MD, FACS, FAAP specializes in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus. In addition, he also has advanced training in Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. Tong obtained his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia through an accelerated program where he finished college in 2 years. He completed his residency at the University of California – Los Angeles. He finished his first fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus with Dr. Marshall Parks at the Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC. He then completed his second fellowship training in Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery at the University of California – Los Angeles and in Beverly Hills. After his dual fellowship training, he practiced in California for over seven years before moving to Texas.
Dr. John Tong sees children of all ages for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. These issues include crossed eyes/esotropia, drifting eyes/exotropia, lazy vision/amblyopia, styes/chalazion, blocked tear ducts, failed vision exams, and other eye problems. He also sees both children and adults for Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery issues. These include droopy eyelids/ptosis/dermatochalasis, droopy eyebrows, eyelid cancer, tearing/nasolacrimal duct problems, and in-turning/entropion and out-turning/ectropion of the eyelids. Dr. Tong has authored multiple articles and given lectures at multiple meetings. He is a Fellow of the American Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Association of Cosmetic Surgery, American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, American Academy of Ophthalmology, and American College of Surgeons.
