Selecting Frames for your Child
Choosing the best lenses and frames for your child.
Lens Types – single-vision lenses correct nearsightedness, farsightedness and sometimes astigmatism. Multifocal lenses correct for more than one vision error and include bifocal lenses, which correct for two vision errors and trifocals, which correct for three vision errors. Your physician will determine which lens type is right for your child.
Lens Materials – for children under 18 years of age, poly-carbonate lenses are strongly recommended. These lenses are the safest option for children because they are impact-resistant and they tend to last longer because they are scratch-resistant. In addition to poly-carbonate lenses, you can choose from:
- Cute and Clear A/R – this lens coating allows more light into the eyes, ends glare, fights fingerprints and dust and resists scratches.
- Transitions – this option gives you a comfort tint in your everydayglasses. Transition lenses are recommended for all glasses, especially sports goggles.
- Polarized – this option is very effective at blocking glare when wearing glasses.
Frame Options – choosing the right eyeglass frame can be exciting. We offer hundreds of different options and will help you find the pair that works best for you and your child.
